Risk Fee

« Back to Glossary Index

This is a one-off fee charged by some lenders to protect them if a borrower defaults on their loan and the proceeds from the property sale are not enough to pay out the loan in full. A risk fee may be applicable to a credit impaired loan, where the lender deems there is an above average risk involved in extending credit to the borrower.
