Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, a unique code that identifies banks worldwide, enabling international currency transfers. It’s also known as a Bank Identifier Code (BIC). In other countries it is known by other abbreviations:
CHIPS (Clearing House Inter-Bank Payment System) in US and Canada, NCC (National Clearing Code), BSC (Bank Sort Code) andIFSC (Indian Financial System Code).
